El Malecón por excelencia. El Malecón Habanero, creado a partir de 1901, se extiende a lo largo de ocho kilómetros y es un icono de la capital cubana. Entre la Torre de la Chorrera y el Castillo de la Punta, deja a su paso edificios con el aire decadente e inconfundible de La Habana, monumentos, vendedores, pescadores, fiesteros, soñadores e inconformistas que miran al norte, a Florida, que está un poco más allá del mar. Una joya única a cualquier hora del día.

Multibanco deu dinheiro grátis durante uma hora

Terá sido para muitos uma espécie de presente de Natal antecipado. Durante cerca de uma hora, uma máquina de multibanco deu dinheiro grátis aos seus utilizadores, esta quarta-feira à noite, em Inglaterra. 

O insólito aconteceu em Fallowfield, uma localidade em Manchester. A máquina em causa estava num supermercado da cadeia Tesco. 

O aparelho disponibilizava o dobro dos montantes pedidos pelos utilizadores. Assim, quem por exemplo pedia 10 libras recebia 20, sendo debitado na conta o valor do pedido. 

Um responsável do supermercado disse aos media locais que uma avaria nas máquinas que estavam no interior da loja esteve na origem do que aconteceu, mas não deu mais detalhes sobre o assunto. 

O incidente terá começado por volta das 22:00. 

Não se sabe quantas pessoas ao certo utilizaram a máquina durante esse período, mas residentes em Fallowfield escreveram no Twitter que havia filas de espera.

Explanation: This might look like a double-bladed lightsaber, but these two cosmic jets actually beam outward from a newborn star in a galaxy near you. Constructed from Hubble Space Telescope image data, the stunning scene spans about half a light-year across Herbig-Haro 24 (HH 24), some 1,300 light-years or 400 parsecs away in the stellar nurseries of the Orion B molecular cloud complex. Hidden from direct view, HH 24's central protostar is surrounded by cold dust and gas flattened into a rotating accretion disk. As material from the disk falls toward the young stellar object it heats up. Opposing jets are blasted out along the system's rotation axis. Cutting through the region's interstellar matter, the narrow, energetic jets produce a series of glowing shock fronts along their path.

Explanation: Earth's annual Geminid meteor shower did not disappoint, peaking before dawn on December 14 as our fair planet plowed through dust from active asteroid 3200 Phaethon. Captured in this southern hemispherenightscape the meteors stream away from the shower's radiant in Gemini. To create the image, many individual frames recording meteor streaks were taken over period of 5 hours. In the final composite they were selected and registered against the starry sky above the twin 6.5 meter Magellan telescopes of Carnegie Las Campanas Observatory in Chile. Rigel in Orion, and Sirius shine brightly as the Milky Way stretches toward the zenith. Near Castor and Pollux the twin stars of Gemini, the meteor shower's radiant is low, close to the horizon. The radiant effect is due to perspective as the parallel meteor tracks appear to converge in the distance. Gemini's meteors enter Earth's atmosphere traveling at about 22 kilometers per second.

Reposição de feriados volta ao parlamento a 8 de janeiro

A discussão e votação na generalidade dos projetos de vários partidos para a reposição de feriados voltam ao parlamento a 8 de janeiro, depois de a questão ter sido adiada em novembro, foi acordado, esta quarta-feira, em conferência de líderes. 

Os projetos regressam ao parlamento na primeira semana de janeiro de 2016, após a consulta pública sobre o tema, que motivou o adiamento da discussão em plenário no mês de novembro. 

Todos os partidos têm em cima da mesa iniciativas legislativas para a reposição de feriados. 

Em 2012, com efeitos a partir de 2013, o Governo de então, de PSD e CDS-PP, suprimiu quatro feriados: dois religiosos, o de Corpo de Deus em junho (feriado móvel), e o dia 1 de novembro, dia de Todos os Santos, e dois civis, 5 de Outubro, Implantação da República, e no 1.º de Dezembro, Restauração da Independência. 

A conferência de líderes parlamentares agendou hoje os trabalhos de plenário para as duas primeiras semanas de janeiro.

Explanation: The Horsehead Nebula is one of the most famous nebulae on the sky. It is visible as the dark indentation to the red emission nebula in the center of the above photograph. The horse-head feature is dark because it is really an opaque dust cloud that lies in front of the bright red emission nebula. Like clouds in Earth's atmosphere, this cosmic cloud has assumed a recognizable shape by chance. After many thousands of years, the internal motions of the cloud will surely alter its appearance. The emission nebula's red color is caused by electrons recombining with protons to form hydrogen atoms. On the image left is the Flame Nebula, an orange-tinged nebula that also contains filaments of dark dust. Just to the lower left of the Horsehead nebula featured picture is a blueish reflection nebulae that preferentially reflects the blue light from nearby stars.
