Angola: a liberdade de expressão é mais importante do que os diamantes
Rafael Marques de Morais é um jornalista angolano que tem sido perseguido pelo Governo de Angola devido à denúncia de casos de alegada corrupção e injustiça social no país.
Recentemente, Rafael Marques publicou um livro em que descreve alegados abusos de direitos humanos por parte de militares angolanos e de empresas privadas, em minas de diamantes.
Apresentou também uma queixa-crime contra os alegados responsáveis pelos abusos descritos no livro, procurando justiça para as alegadas vítimas da indústria de diamantes do país. Em consequência, foi formalmente acusado de denúncia caluniosa em julho de 2014.
A Amnistia Internacional considera que Rafael Marques de Morais está a ser alvo de perseguição por exercer o seu direito à liberdade de expressão protegido pelo direito internacional.
Mais de 30 organizações se juntaram num apelo a que as autoridades de Angola ponham fim ao que consideram ser uma tentativa de perseguição do escritor e jornalista.

Explanation: Magnificent island universe NGC 2403 stands within the boundaries of the long-necked constellation Camelopardalis. Some 10 million light-years distant and about 50,000 light-years across, the spiral galaxy also seems to have more than its fair share of giant star forming HII regions, marked by the telltale reddish glow of atomic hydrogen gas. The giant HII regions are energized by clusters of hot, massive stars that explode as bright supernovae at the end of their short and furious lives. A member of the M81 group of galaxies, NGC 2403 closely resembles another galaxy with an abundance of star forming regions that lies within our own local galaxy group, M33 the Triangulum Galaxy. Spiky in appearance, bright stars in this colorful galaxy portrait of NGC 2403 lie in the foreground, within our own Milky Way.

Portugal: Estudo inédito do sofrimento na deficiência visual vale nota 20 a aluna quase cega
É uma investigação inédita realizada em Portugal sobre o sofrimento emocional em pessoas com deficiência visual, valeu-lhe 20 valores na dissertação de mestrado e tem como autora Ana Sofia Teixeira, estudante da Universidade de Aveiro (UA). À nota de excelência atribuída ao trabalho acrescente-se que foi realizado por quem nasceu com retignite pigmentar, uma doença degenerativa que, gradualmente, e desde a infância, tirou à autora do estudo quase toda a visão.
Mas os actuais cinco por cento de visão num olho e um por cento no outro foram mais do que suficientes para concluir com excelência o Mestrado em Psicologia Clínica e da Saúde. Para trás fica um percurso académico onde a Ana foi “para além do impossível”.

Ana Sofia perdeu grande parte da visão, principalmente durante a adolescência, a esforçar a vista com os estudos.

“Fazer uma dissertação de mestrado após um ano exaustivo de estágio curricular [realizada entre Agosto e Novembro de 2014], foi quase como que ir para além do impossível”, diz. O esforço valeu-lhe um 20 no trabalho e um 17 como nota final do mestrado em Psicologia Clínica e da Saúde.

Explanation: As spring comes to planet Earth's northern hemisphere, familiar winter constellation Orion sets in early evening skies and budding trees frame the Hunter's stars. The yellowish hue of cool red supergiant Alpha Orionis, the great star Betelgeuse, mingles with the branches at the top of this colorful skyscape. Orion's alpha star is joined on the far right by Alpha Tauri. Also known as Aldebaran and also a giant star cooler than the Sun, it shines with a yellow light at the head of Taurus, the Bull. Contrasting blue supergiant Rigel, Beta Orionis, is Orion's other dominant star though, and marks the Hunter's foot below center. Of course, the sword of Orion hangs from the Hunter's three blue belt stars near picture center, but the middle star in the sword is not a star at all. A slightly fuzzy pinkish glow hints at its true nature, a nearby stellar nursery visible to the unaided eye known as the Orion Nebula.
