Explanation: In the center of star-forming region 30 Doradus lies a huge cluster containing some of the largest, hottest, and most massive stars known. These stars, known collectively as star cluster R136, were captured in the featured image in visible light by the Wide Field Camera 3 in 2009 peering through the Hubble Space Telescope. Gas and dust clouds in 30 Doradus, also known as the Tarantula Nebula, have been sculpted into elongated shapes by powerfulwinds and ultraviolet radiation from these hot cluster stars. The 30 Doradus Nebula lies within a neighboring galaxy known as the Large Magellanic Cloud and is located a mere 170,000 light-years away.

Explanation: The Big Dipper is an easy to recognize, well-known asterism in northern skies, though many see the Plough or Wagon. Famous bright nebulae of the north can also be found along its familiar lines, highlighted in this carefully composed scene with telescopic insets framed in the wider-field skyview. All from Messier's catalog, M101 and M51 are cosmic pinwheel and whirlpool on the left, spiral galaxies far beyond the Milky Way. To the right, M108, a distant edge-on spiral galaxy is seen close to our galaxy's own owl-faced planetary nebula M97. Taken on January 16, the wider-field view seems to include an extra star along the Dipper's handle, though. That's Comet Catalina (C/2013 US10) now sweeping through northern nights.

Eleição Presidencial - Os sacrificios são sempre para os mais pobres!

 

Muita conversa tem surgido na rede social acerca das pensões vitalícias versadas aos políticos que mais não tenham estado um instante ou menos que isso ao serviço do Povo.

Dizem que a Lei, o Direito, votados pelos deputados democraticamente eleitos, se aplicam a todos.

Obviamente, a Lei é imperfeita porque decidida por muita gente dotada de inteligência normal e outros… mas democraticamente se nos impõe.

Dura Lex, Sed Lex.

Concretamente; os deputados votam a Lei, que ao ser Lei Fundamental, se torna em Direito aplicável a todos.

E é ai que  a "porca torce o rabo"...

Alguns pensam ser “ainda” mais democratas que a maioria! A austeridade só é boa para os pobres!

E os deputados, coitadinhos, que sofrem, também, os efeitos da austeridade, vemo-los todos pelo caminho, exigindo esmola aos pobres!

Mais, Uma candidata à presidência da Republica, Maria de Belém, não teve vergonha de pedir ao Tribunal Constitucional que mantivesse a pensão vitalícia para ela e a sua casta, enquanto defendia cortes de salários, pensões…para a maioria dos Portugueses!!!

Explanation: Sweeping through northern skies, Comet Catalina (C/2013 US10) made its closest approach on January 17, passing about 6 light-minutes from our fair planet. Dust and ion tails clearly separated in this Earth-based view, the comet is also posed for a Messier moment, near the line-of-sight to M101, grand spiral galaxy in Ursa Major. A cosmic pinwheel at the lower left, M101 is nearly twice the size of our own Milky Way galaxy, but some 270 thousand light-centuries away. Both galaxy and comet are relatively bright, easy targets for binocular-equipped skygazers. But Comet Catalina is now outbound from the inner Solar System and will slowly fade in coming months. This telescopic two panel mosaic spans about 5 degrees (10 Full Moons) on the sky.

Nasceu num momento dramático, quatro meses apenas depois de Almeida Santos ter perdido uma filha. Ficou uma relação especial entre avô e neto. Cantavam juntos, partilhavam experiências. Em 2009, Manuel Magalhães prestou uma homenagem ao avô, nas páginas do Expresso. Volta agora, já médico cardiologista, para contar em exclusivo o que ficou por dizer. Quando recebeu a notícia da morte do avô, Manuel estava em Angola e escreveu este depoimento durante a viagem de avião para poder estar presente no funeral. A correr, mas sempre a tempo.

Estava eu nas minhas tarefas domésticas quando o telefone tocou.

Interroguei-me instantaneamente, pois o telefone raramente toca em casa mas, excepcionalmente  levantei o auscultador e, de imediato ouvi a voz de trovão:

- ENTÃO RAPAIZ, já não te lembravas? Fiquei de te telefonar; lembras ainda?

Meio atordoado balbuciei algumas palavras de excusa, meio atabalhoadas e, sem demoras, ouvi:

- OLHA LA, tu pensas eu não tenho mais nada que fazer?!!!

- Olá Cara, desculpa, eu sei que cumpres sempre mas eu estava tão ocupado a lavar a loiça que, confesso, naquele momento estava longe de pensar que me ias ligar…

- POIS é, POIS é!!! Vocês os terrestres já deixaram há muito de respeitar a palavra dada; mas comigo não é assim! De uma vez por todas rectifica o teu alinho; eu duro para a eternidade, mas não esqueças que TU NÃO!!!

- Ok Cara, agradeço tudo o eu tens feito por mim…Fico-te eternamente grato. E Em relação ao parecer que te pedi sobre o António?

- O QUÊ… aquela coisa apimbalhada, condecorada com o nome  de “Tony Carreira”?... AHAHAH, nem me fales…

- Mas Cara…

Depressa me interrompeu:

- AQUELA coisa é sintomática do que se passa na vossa Sociedade: não vale uma… desculpa, ia dizer um nome feio. O António é como certos políticos, enganam muitas vezes o Povo que, por seu turno,  os continua a "adorar"!

Explanation: The eggs from this gigantic chicken may form into stars. The featured emission nebula, shown in scientifically assigned colors, is cataloged as IC 2944 but known as the Running Chicken Nebula for the shape of its greater appearance. Seen toward the top of the image are small, dark molecular clouds rich in obscuring cosmic dust. Called Thackeray's Globules for their discoverer, these "eggs" are potential sites for the gravitational condensation of new stars, although their fates are uncertain as they are also being rapidly eroded away by the intense radiation from nearby young stars. Together with patchy glowing gas and complex regions of reflecting dust, these massive and energetic stars form the open cluster Collinder 249. This gorgeous skyscape spans about 60 light-years at the nebula's estimated 6,000 light-year distance.
